Hi, I'm Maria

I'm a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Lisbon, Portugal.

A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.

How It Started

Moving to Portugal wasn't part of the long-range plan. As with many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.

The initial months were demanding— unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Everyday chores seemed more complicated than they needed to be.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, doubt, and lots of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began shaping something that felt secure.

Why I Built Polve Radix

Most online guidance fell into either corporate relocation advice or shallow tourism content. What was missing was genuine, everyday family insight.

This site aims to fill that gap— practical advice drawn from real life in Portugal.

What This Site Is (And Isn't)

This site is:

  • Practical experience from life in Portugal
  • Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
  • Updated whenever a real change occurs

This site isn't:

  • A tourism board resource
  • Sponsored review platform
  • A generic travel blog

Moving Forward

Our stay in Portugal goes on, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I will continue recording what we find.

If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, don't hesitate to contact me.

Cheers,

Maria
